Intel Chip To 'Revolutionise PC's'

Dummm, dum dum dum dum - we all know it - we hate to love it, but we always end up humming their theme tune, I am of course talking about the boys in blue, Intel.

Intel have been busy in the processor labs and are now set to 'revolutionise the PC industry' with their new chip, code-named 'Sandy Bridge'.

This is Intel's first architecture which will merge a microprocessor AND a graphics processor onto a single silicon chip. What does this mean? Well, for starters it is going to mean rapidly increased image loading and rendering rates but also longer battery life and consumption levels.

Paul Otellini, Intel's chief executive stated "On one single chip, we've put in place all the critical capabilities for computing. This is a very important chip for Intel," - this was at the annual developers forum held in San Francisco.

"Sandy Bridge will revolutionise PCs again." - he added.

KILLER

In our opinion, this could be the 'Nvidia Killer' (Nvidia are Intel's rivals who make stand-alone graphics chips) - however, Nvidia have said they are not worried - I on the other hand think differently.

So after spending $7 bn on the acquisition of McAfee, Intel's boys have been busy cooking up a storm - we cannot wait to see what this chip can do.

Given that the new chip is targeted at low-end laptops and desktop computers, Intel are placing their immediate future on the chip being not only a massive hit with PC vendors, but more importantly, consumers.
